Every Child Ready To Read

Our story times have undergone a transition~ First they have been all changed to start at 9:45 for parents, childcare givers, and patrons not only to be consistent but convenient to our young ones schedules. Our story times are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday’s but now center on a general age group. Our “Talker” time (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) ages 2-3 focus on the six pre-reading skills necessary for children to find success once in the reading environment or preschool. These story times will give children the opportunity to build vocabulary, print awareness, print motivation, phonemic awareness, narrative skills and letter knowledge. Story time with Sharon on Thursday’s ages birth-24 months will focus on a very simplified version of the six pre-reading skills using songs/chants and big books. We now have also incorporated “Preschool” storytime on Friday’s for children ages 4-5. Each story time will tie in simple strategies for parents to incorporate within daily schedules reinforcing these early literacy skills. Although story times focus on a general age group; ALL are welcome to join; especially younger/older brothers and sisters.
