The Desert Foothills Library does not control and cannot monitor the information available and accessed via the Internet; therefore, the Desert Foothills Library cannot be held responsible for its content. The Dessert Foothills Library cannot guarantee that the information on the Internet is accurate.

The Desert Foothills Library does not have a computer technician on site. Staff and volunteers at the Desert Foothills Library cannot provide individualized instruction on the use of the internet or computer and are not responsible for software and hardware problems encountered by patrons.

Cost

• Members* of the Desert Foothills Library may use the Internet free of charge.
• Cardholders of the Desert Foothills Library, who are not contributing members, may use the internet for $3.00 per hour.
• Patrons without a library card may use the internet for $5.00 per hour.

Hours & Time Limits

• Computers may be used for a limit of 1 hour if there are patrons waiting.
• Internet service is available during regular library hours.
• Computers and printers close 10 minutes before the library closes.

To e-mail from the library, you must use a personal e-mail account.

Access by Minors

• Parents/Guardians must assume responsibility for Internet use by their child(ren). Only parents can restrict services and materials to their child(ren) and only for their child(ren).

• Library patrons under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to use a computer with Internet access.

Printing & Downloading

Printers are available for patron use with each computer workstation. Fee is 10 cents per page, payable at the Circulation Desk.

User Responsibilities

• Please report equipment problems to library staff. It is illegal to physically or electronically modify computer equipment, or tamper with hardware or software.
• Deliberate misuse of the computer or its components will result in loss of computer privileges; repair costs will be the responsibility of the user.
• Library computers are in public areas. If what you view causes discomfort to others, staff may intervene.
• The use of library equipment to access to material that is obscene, child pornography or “harmful to minors” (consistent with any applicable state or local law) or any illegal materials is prohibited.

Code of Conduct

• Non-compliance with the Desert Foothills Library policy and guidelines for computer and/or Internet use may result in denial of access to Library computers.

• The users of the Desert Foothills Library computers are bound by local, State and Federal laws relating to copyright, security, obscenity, pornography and other statues regarding electronic media. Violations of the law will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

*members are defined as donating a minimum of $30 for individual and $50 for family for the current year.
