August 30, 2008 at the Desert Foothills Library from 10:00 to 12:00
Rural Metro Fire Department and Maricopa County Department of Public Health will be providing the following services to residents of Cave Creek:
Child Car Seat Safety Check
Blood Pressure Check
In addition, Rural Metro will be raffling off booster car seats, distributing Rural Metro Fire and Paramedics information and answering questions about our services.
STARGAZING for EVERYONE
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME!
Wednesday, September 10th 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
6:30 – 7:15 Lecture/presentation in Conference Room
7:30 – 9:00 Telescope viewing on Library Patio
Please sign up in advance to ensure sufficient seating and equipment.
$10 for current donating members of the Desert Foothills Library Association;
$15 for Desert Foothills Library cardholders;
$20 for general public;
($5 for seniors 65 and over and children under 12)
Money will be collected at the door.
Please bring your digital camera and binoculars if you have them and you will be shown how to use them in star viewing.
Tony Conte will be providing viewing telescopes with GPS to zoom into the stars. He will be using a high powered laser to point things out in the sky. We will be looking at the moon and Jupiter, galaxies, star clusters, nebulae and colorful double stars. The lecture will highlight the Orionid Meteor shower to take place in the middle of October.
THIS IS A “RAIN OR SHINE” EVENT. If there is bad weather, the lecture will be extended : you will not be disappointed.
