Conduct within and Around the Library

For the safety, comfort and convenience of all of our patrons, the Board of the Desert Foothills Library Association has established the following rules:

- Loud talking, running, public displays of affection or otherwise disturbing behaviors are prohibited.
- Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the library including the restrooms.
- Food and drink are permitted in the public areas of the library; however, any damage to library property incurred by a user that are the direct result of eating or drinking in the library will be the responsibility of that person.
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, firearms or weapons of any kind are prohibited in any area of the library and its property.
- Appropriate attire, including shirts and shoes, must be worn in the library.
- Vandalism of library property will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
- Verbal or physical abuse of patrons and/or staff is a criminal offense and will be prosecuted as provided by the law.
- Parents or legal guardians will be held responsible for the acts and conduct of minor children. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a care-giving adult. No child is to be left unsupervised in any part of the library or its property by the care-giving adult.
Penalties:
Penalties are imposed by the Director of the Library or designated staff members. They include, but are not limited to:
- Requests to stop disruptive behavior;
- Ejection from the library;
- Restriction or denial of library services;
- Restitution for damages; and
- Prosecution under the law.
